Dear all,
In partnership with all 6 County Durham SGO’s, we would like to offer you a Discovery swim challenge-based gala for the Special Schools of County Durham (if space permits this will be opened up to SEND children in mainstream schools).
The gala is based upon team water challenges enabling young SEND children to experience the opportunity to be part of a non-traditional swim gala.
This gala is for an outlet for SEND children who don’t have opportunity for an external swim opportunity as a school team and are not yet ready for some 25m activity.

IMPORTANT – swimmers in your team should not be classified by Swim England, do not swim in sanctioned club gala’s or are not proficient in swimming 25m distances.
This Gala is a team event of 6-8 per team (made up of any Ks2/Ks3 children) who will get opportunity to do 2-3 activities each (Gala activity descriptions are attached fyi). Schools may enter up to 2 teams.
Time of arrival 11.45 am (11.55 approx. am meeting time in the pool area for managers meeting for as close to 12 mid-day start).
We will provide Swim caps for all teams.
FURTHER INFO – Food & Drink – you can eat snacks and have drinks on poolside between races. The Pool floor will be raised so children can stand and we will have lifeguards and leaders (some in the pool). If you require a teacher to be in the pool/ a teacher to help a child enter the pool, I have a disclaimer form for you to sign.
